Global Mamas - that's definitely an extra step in making mummy friends, when you don't speak the language and everything is foreign (in all senses of the word). I'm sure you could find some English-speaking playgroups in Berlin though, so that might be a good start. Good luck and don't worry!

Having just changed continents (now in Germany)I am now needing to connect with some "mummy friends"...It is a bit trickier here as I don't speak the language...although I know many people here can speak english. I know what I need to do but I feel stuck somehow, maybe even a little scared of stepping out and doing what needs to be done.
It is kind of weird being 41 and having no women friends to connect with...Here's hoping things change soon!

Thanks for your comment Claire. The NCT seems to be a popular way to get to know other mums, providing there's a group in your area.

I joined an NCT group while I was pregnant and grew close to that group of mums. We meet up every week or so and all our children are close in age so it's nice to spend time together.
